The thermoregulation is extremely pleasant because the cardigan keeps you warm in the cold and I don't sweat in it when it's warmer. The process is completely smooth and there's no plastic packaging, and I really appreciate the personal letters."

Katrin Bayerle
From Munich

I wear my Alpakin cardigan very often, the quality is really great as it doesn't wear out and still looks like new. I try to heat my apartment less, my alpaca jacket is so warm and cozy. Many thanks to Caro for the great advice.

Alpaca cardigans for women & men

... incomparably soft and comfortable

Alpaca cardigans as natural fiber clothing for men and women are always in fashion and are comfortable and soft. Unlike alpaca ponchos, cardigans are open at the front or have buttons or a zipper. With us you will find timelessly elegant cardigans made of alpaca wool that you can combine in many ways. Be it for everyday life, the office, special occasions or even relaxed evenings at home. With your cardigan made of alpaca wool you are well dressed and kept warm.

The special thing about alpaca cardigans is their unique comfort and their exceptional softness and warmth. Where alpacas live, in the Andes mountains of Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina, they are exposed to a wide range of weather conditions such as sun, rain and wind. The fur of alpacas has adapted to these conditions and has a warming or cooling insulating effect, depending on the weather conditions. With a cardigan made of alpaca wool, you are perfectly equipped for every season, without freezing or sweating.

This is what makes alpaca cardigans so special

The high-quality wearing properties of alpaca cardigans result from the unique charactristcs of alpaca wool that no other type of wool offers.

Icon Feder für Weichheit

Softness

The alpaca fibers have a small diameter and thus ensure a soft feel. Does alpaca wool scratch? Lower qualities such as alpaca or fine often leave a scratchy feeling on the skin and are not suitable for people with sensitive skin. The highest quality baby alpaca, on the other hand, is as soft as cashmere and is guaranteed not to scratch.

Icon Thermometer für Temperatur

Warmest wool

Alpaca material offers ideal conditions for cold and heat. Alpaca fiber contains hollow spaces that act as insulation at low temperatures and dissipate heat when it is hot. Alpaca wool is still the warmest wool today and is seven times warmer than sheep's wool. When it comes to warm cardigans, you should make sure that they are tightly woven and contain more wool. This is the only way alpaca wool can keep you warm and store your body heat.

Icon Atmungsaktivität

Breathable

Clothing that comes into close contact with the skin, such as cardigans or alpaca sweaters as a base layer, should be breathable to prevent bad smells such as sweat from settling in. Alpaca wool is breathable and wicks away moisture, keeping you dry and warm.

Icon für Allergie

Gentle on the skin

Alpaca wool contains hardly any lanolin (wool fat), a common trigger for allergic reactions. In the softest baby alpaca quality, alpaca wool is suitable for allergy sufferers and people with sensitive skin. The comfort is so soft and gentle that you have to feel it.

Durable & easy-care

Alpaca jackets air out well when hung up and the fiber is dirt-repellent. Alpaca wool is easy-care and, unlike cashmere, does not tend to pill.

Discover Alpaca cardigans from Peru

In contrast to Peruvian ponchos, cardigans are not typical items of clothing from the Andean country. However, the majority of alpaca wool comes from Peru, as the country has a long tradition of alpaca breeding. Peruvian alpaca wool is the highest quality alpaca wool in the world because alpacas can live there in their natural habitat. The South American camels are landscape-friendly animals that help keep the Andes mountains blooming and green. When they eat, they cut the grass and encourage grass growth. Their soft footpads also protect the soil and do not devastate the landscape. Alpaca cardigans from Peru stand for quality and environmental friendliness. Sustainable slow fashion that is produced under fair conditions and is characterized by long-lasting quality. All our alpaca cardigans come from Peru, the land of the alpacas, and represent the symbiosis of traditional craftsmanship with modern, timeless design.

Buy Alpaca Cardigan

That's why to choose Alpakin

Alpakin offers an exclusive, hand-picked selection of high-quality alpaca cardigans. Our alpaca cardigans are characterized by their fine workmanship and simple, elegant designs. We consciously distance ourselves from cheap, mass-produced fast fashion and instead focus on exclusive, unique pieces. We source our alpaca wool jackets exclusively from Peru and guarantee fair working conditions along the entire supply chain from Peru to Germany.

Our cardigans for women and men made from alpaca wool are made from 100% baby alpaca wool. Well-known fashion brands often only offer cardigans as alpaca blends with wool or synthetic fibers. With a lower alpaca content of 20 - 40 percent, the alpaca wool can often no longer develop its unique characteristics, which is why we recommend that you always choose 100% pure textiles such as 100 percent alpaca sweaters. When it comes to wool products, buyers should always make sure to buy alpaca wool that has not been cruelty to animals. Certificates and awards such as the Responsible Alpaca Standard (RAS), which defines the species-appropriate keeping and use of Andean camels, provide guidance. The fluffy wool from alpacas is obtained ethically, which means you are contributing to a more animal-friendly and sustainable fashion industry. It is also important to mention that baby alpaca wool is just the name of a quality level and does not mean the wool from alpaca babies or young animals. This finest alpaca fiber is obtained from protected parts of the alpaca's body. It is softer, warmer and shinier than conventional alpaca wool. Its rarity naturally also affects the price.

How do I care for my alpaca cardigan?

Alpaca cardigans are easy to care for because the alpaca fiber is durable, robust and quick-drying. It is generally sufficient to wash alpaca wool less often because it naturally has a high self-cleaning power. Regular airing in the fresh air neutralizes sweat and other odors.

Jackets made of alpaca wool can be washed in the washing machine or by hand. Select the gentle wool wash cycle at a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius, use a laundry net and spin as low as possible, at no more than 600 revolutions per minute. Use special wool detergent and avoid fabric softener and bleach. After washing, do not put the alpaca cardigan in the dryer, but let it air dry lying down and avoid direct sunlight.
